About the Event

Your Body Is Not an Object: Moving from Body Image to Embodied Living

What would change if you stopped relating to your body as something to evaluate, improve, or control—and began experiencing it as the place from which you live?

In this experiential one-hour talk, The Body Is Not an Apology, Autym Helzer, APCC #22222, supervised by Dr. Douglas Kasle, PsyD #20824, explores the shift from body image—how we see and judge our bodies—to embodied living—how we actually experience ourselves from within.

Together, we’ll explore how cultural messages, self-judgment, and habitual disconnection can shape our relationship with our bodies. Through reflection and simple embodiment practices, participants will be invited to move away from treating the body as an object to be managed and toward greater curiosity, presence, compassion, and connection.

This talk is part of the Center for Embodiment Medicine Monthly Talk Series and is open to therapists, clients, and anyone interested in cultivating a more connected relationship with their body.

Led by: Autym Helzer, APCC #22222

Supervised by: Dr. Douglas Kasle, PsyD #20824
